Cheruiyot, a two time winner, took his third Houston win in four years, clocking 2:12:32. Kasime Adilo of Ethiopia was 2:12:53. National Half Marathon titles for Carney, O'Neill Carney's time of 1:02:21 earned him his first USA championship win while O'Neill also won her first national title in 1:11:57. The men's and women's championships were hosted for the second consecutive year by the Aramco Houston Half Marathon. Though the 36th annual event started under ideal conditions with clear skies and a temperature of 48 degrees, the leaders passed the first mile in a relaxed 5:05 before Carney, Jason Lehmkuhle, and Ryan Kirkpatrick took charge of the field, leading the field through the second mile in 4:33. The trio gradually extended a lead over the chase pack that included two-time champion Dan Browne and Steve Sundell.
On a collision course with the NFL, Dave Pear is playing to win
Former NFL all-pro defensive lineman Dave Pear now must use a cane to help relieve the pain and pressure from severe spinal injuries he sustained on the gridiron. Although he is fighting the NFL's system of awarding disability benefits to former players, he proudly wears the Super Bowl ring he earned with the Oakland Raiders in 1981. Pear played college football at the University of Washington. .

The Hot 100 for 2008 represent the range of online retailing, from small to large, well known and not so well known, and include chains, catalogers, online-only merchants and brand name manufacturers. They have in common the willingness to innovate and set the standards in online retailing. This years sites range in size from Amazon.com and Dell.com, which set the pace of innovation while finding ways to build customer relationships and sales, to such smaller sites as RomanicosChocolate.com, which has used the Internet to build a national following for its delicacies. So we're going to get started with the debate, and let's stipulate in advance what I know many feel obliged to say. We're grateful that all of you are here, and we expect that you're grateful to the Iowa State Historical Museum, the people of Iowa, public radio in Iowa and NPR News. And we appreciate that and hope we can move on to the topic of Iran. The new National Intelligence Estimate contains a major change. It says that Iran stopped its nuclear weapons program in the fall of 2003. Today President Bush said that nothing's changed in light of the report. He said the NIE, the National Intelligence Estimate, doesn't do anything to change his opinion about the danger Iran poses to the world. For all of you — and let's go left to right across the radio dial — do you agree with the president's assessment that Iran still poses a threat?
