If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It: Starpulse Examines Plastic Surgery ...

Beauty is a funny thing. Forever a concern for both the beautiful and un-beautiful alike, attaining and maintaining a consistent level of seemingly effortless attractiveness requires, for most of us, a lot of work.

Saturating our television shows, magazines and movies (with the exception of most French films, to their credit), conventional standards of beauty are as inescapable as they are unrealistic. They demand of us a level of aesthetic perfection that most of us simply cannot deliver - not even with the most expensive pills and potions at our disposal.

So, what's a regular Joe or Josephine to do? Most of us end up doing the best with what we have; we avoid fluorescent lights, sing the praises of Polaroid cameras, and try to find solace in our mothers' advice: "Stop obsessing.

Clinton has what it takes to fix this mess

It's insane to give them tax rebates (or to keep them in place) and to not regulate such an important oligopoly is a terrible idea. Of course they are regulated, but not enough. Also, they are one of the prime beneficiaries of stability in the Middle East and it's high time that they paid for the security provided by the US Navy and other military forces.

The taxes you speak of are paid by the consumer, not the oil company. These taxes are used to pay for road maintenance and is one of the more fair taxes in the books (being a direct tax after all). The more you use the road, the more you pay. Pretty simple concept.

When unrest increases in OPEC nations the price of oil goes up and the oil companies profit more. The US sends in forces to reduce the tension and at great cost to Americans the tension usually reduces and oil prices drop so their profit goes down.

Theatre investigation related to thefts

The theater reported a printer, cash, coins and checks stolen on June 18, 2007, but additional equipment was also discovered missing, Friends of the Children's Theatre board member Dan Conway said Friday.

"We've had some very expensive equipment that has been lost or stolen," board member Ken Freiberg said. "It was a big, huge surprise."

Conway, however, said he didn't think the equipment was that expensive.

Friends Treasurer Justine Franklin and board President Paula Collins said they knew of only the one burglary last summer.

The Friends, a support organization founded in 1970, did buy the theater group a digital camera to replace one that was stolen, Franklin said.

The burglary was notable for two reasons, board member Szonja Szelenyi said.

Bill Gates - You Asked The Questions

I've interviewed Bill Gates three or four times over a 12 year period, and each time I come out impressed by the sheer professionalism of the Microsoft PR operation but wondering whether we've been successfully spun.

This time we tried a new tactic - getting BBC viewers, listeners and readers to ask the questions. We had thousands, covering every aspect of Bill Gates and Microsoft - past, present and future. Over two hundred were seeking jobs, one gentleman was proposing himself as the next CEO of Microsoft, and another wondered whether the secrets of Windows software had been recovered from a crashed UFO.

We did not ask that one, but managed to get through around fifteen questions during our allotted fifteen minutes. As ever, Mr Gates appeared very well briefed.
